Game Day: Knicks @ Hornets, 1/11/21

The Knicks take the road in an attempt to break their mini slump against the Charlotte Hornets. Can a matchup against a team without a top-tier big man allow Mitchell Robinson to flourish?

Some nights it’s just not gonna happen.

Now imagine Bismack Biyombo doing that. Not only is that about 19 feet outside of his range, but the pirouette is 19 left feet outside of his rights. The difference between Nikola Jokic and big Bis is enormous. Nevertheless, it will be an interesting point-counterpoint for Mitchell Robinson to ply his increasing craftiness against. Biyombo is much more of a giant pry bar to Jokic’s belly-over-jackhammer stylings, but Robinson has proven to be a bit movable, especially as fatigue settles in.

Next weak

No Reggie Bullock tonight, who has finally succumbed to an ailing hip. That means a starting slot is up for grabs.

Word on the streets is that Frank Ntilikina is going to out for at least one more week and he’ll be re-evaluated after that. Obi Toppin is progressing, but still isn’t doing any contact work. And Alec Burks remains in a walking boot for another stretch of days here. The Knicks need bodies, cus they certainly aren’t catching any with no subs. Is the door opening slightly for a Dennis Smith Jr. re-emergence?

HAHAHA! That was cute right? DSJ is buns. He’s not playing real minutes anytime soon.

A slight stinging sensation

Has the league figured out the Knicks already? Last week they were a blossoming story of excellence. This week they clearly shat themselves and will drown in the pool of their own filth. Wake up and smell the Leon Roses, folks. This team is just a pipeline for the John Calipari briefcase of cash. Look, even the Hornets have some Kentucky shill playing power forward for them! It’s all just a big game to these people!

Which is funny, because it’s all just a game being played big. I dunnow what to tell ya, if you ain’t in it for the long haul, you’re in it for the short term gains of what is certifiably a not special iteration of this team. A lot of players need to reach a lot of levels. Their next few games come against some old friends and bitter rivals. They’ll be hitting the road for the West Coast soon. If they don’t win tonight, it will sting. The results of this game could very well be priming the pump for what’s to come.

You’ve become a habit to me

You can feel this in your perineum.

Jon is uneducated. A real nobody. He left New York City for the Catskill Mountains several years ago. He has a blue dog and a red house.
