Suns 128, Knicks 105: Postgame Reaction

The Knicks came back from an early deficit to take the lead from the Suns in the second half, at one point even leading by double digits. Unfortunately, there was a whole fourth quarter to play, and they got decimated.

One paragraph to describe the game

Things started off bad. Almost seemed like the Knicks were just going to lay down from the start like they did against the Nuggets. But they came back! It was really entertaining! They even went up by 11 at one point. But the fourth quarter was a total embarrassment, and the Knicks got their asses handed to them in a game that they only trailed by two going into the final period.

Game ball

Obi Toppin: 8 points, 2 steals, 2 blocks, 3-4 shooting, 2-3 from deep

Thankfully we don’t often have to play the “damn this loss sucked but at least one of the young guys played well” game, but I’m bringing it back for one night only. Obi played his best two-way game of the year. Those two steals and two blocks weren’t flukey — he was being disruptive in passing lanes and guarding guys well on the perimeter. Plus the 3-point shooting was on point. Fantastic night for Obi.

Big stat

38-17. The fourth quarter score. You can obviously tell which team had which.

Unsung hero

Derrick Rose: 17 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds

Other significant performances

Nobody. Julius and RJ played well, but also stunk down the stretch. Highlights are for winners (or at least teams that didn’t get rocked by 23).
